(Mostly) pain-free upgrade
One of the things I’ve needed to do with Harleyroads but I’ve been putting off, was upgrading the CMS to the latest version. The reason for the delay was the horrible experience I had the previous time I upgraded. Things broke, I couldn’t get into the Control Panel, the site was down—pretty much every web developer’s nightmare. I was pretty certain I had followed the upgrade docs fairly well, but apparently I missed something here or there. After six weeks of back and forth with ExpressionEngine support (who are stellar, by the way), I finally had myself a working website. A lot of it had to be rebuilt, I had completely lost some of the templates I used with the site and generally things were a mess, but I was able to at least log into the Control Panel and view the site.
